Seven injured on N2

SEVEN people were injured in a car accident on the northbound carriageway of the N2 near Adams Road, Toti, on Thursday.

While six of the passengers of the vehicle suffered minor injuries, one of the injured was in a serious condition. The accident happened just before midday and is believed to have been caused by a burst tyre, which caused the car to roll.

Man chokes on a boiled sweet

A YOUNG man nearly choked to death in Toti last week, after a large, round sweet lodged in his throat.

However, thanks to the quick work of two Toti lifeguards, the man managed to cough up the sweet. Duval Mouton, 19, was travelling with his mother along the N2 when he suddenly choked on the sweet and could not breathe. His mother smacked him on the back and the sweet moved further down his throat, enabling him to get a little air.

Stolen vehicle returned with lots of extras

IT could be worth having your car stolen.

So says a Warner Beach resident, who for professional reasons does not want to be named. Nine months ago the gentleman concerned bought his wife a Ford 1.3 Escort, about 20 years-old. Two months ago the vehicle was stolen from outside his home. Police and local residents assisted in recovering the vehicle from the Illovo Mill area. The car was returned to its rightful owner with a new bumper, rear visor, dust visor, exhaust, mag wheels, sports tyres, aerial, spot lights, all the interior door paneling replaced, new seats and new seat covers. Who says crime does not pay!
