SCAM ALERT: Beware of fake fundraising scam for Mayor Zandile Gumede

Scammers are approaching people, requesting for donations for eThekwini Mayor Zandile Gumede’s legal costs.

Residents are urged to be cautious of scammers who claim to be raising funds on behalf of Mayor Zandile Gumede.

It has come to the municipality’s attention that a group of scammers are allegedly randomly approaching people, requesting for donations for eThekwini Mayor Zandile Gumede’s legal costs.

The municipality warned residents that Mayor Gumede has not asked for such donations and is not part of the scheme. This is a scam and anyone who is approached by these unscrupulous individuals must report the matter to the nearest police station.

The municipality is investigating the allegations.
