Isipingo woman wins new car

The car was the main prize offered in a Lion Deodorant competition.

ISIPINGO resident, Narisha Chetty received the keys to a brand-new Polo Vivo that she won through a competition run by The Lion Match Company on Tuesday, 11 June.

The car was the main prize offered in a Lion Deodorant competition.

The prize came as an early birthday surprise for the mother of two teenage children, who was taken by surprise when she received a phone call just days before her 39th birthday to be told she’d won the car.

“I was so shocked, I didn’t believe them,” said Chetty. “My husband, who is a driver for a removal company, does have a car, so this is the first car that I have ever personally owned. Although I am so grateful to the company for giving me and my family this incredible prize. My daughter is in matric and will also be needing transport soon, so it really will make our lives a lot easier.”

Narisha Chetty stands with Lion Match Company’s Byron Kane and Shoprite KZN’s Bethwell Mackenzie after receiving the new car she won through a competition.

Byron Kane, who is the National Marketing, Sales and Export Manager at The Lion Match Company, said that the competition was offered exclusively through Shoprite Checkers in KwaZulu-Natal over eight weeks in April and May.

“Many people think that The Lion Match Company only sells matches. This in-store competition was designed to tell our consumers about the toiletry products we offer and it certainly did get a lot of consumer engagement and support,” he said.

Chetty was too nervous to drive her new car home, but said that she can’t wait to be behind the wheel soon.
