JUST IN: One killed in Inwabi Road shooting

The driver is alleged to be a rank manager.

One man was shot dead and another critically wounded, in what appears to be a hit, on Inwabi Road in the Isipingo CBD this morning (Monday, 24 June).

“We can confirm a shooting took place today at 8am on Inwabi Road in Isipingo. It is alleged that two men were shot by three suspects. One was confirmed dead at the scene, while the other victim was taken to hospital for medical attention. It is unknown what caused the shooting,” said Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane of the KZN SAPS media centre.

Alpha Alarms reported that the shooting occurred outside Chester Meats on Inwabi Road in Isipingo Rail. One person, believed to be a passenger in a van, was shot dead while the driver, alleged to be a rank manager, was also shot, and rushed to hospital in a critical condition. According to information received, the driver and passenger were seated in the vehicle when they were allegedly approached by three men on foot who fired shots and fled into the busy surroundings.

No description of the suspects could be obtained and the reason for the shooting is being investigated.
