Mixed pairs games get underway at Winkle BC

Women and men’s inter club league final games will be played on Saturday, 22 June

Winkle Bowling Club’s women’s Caltex twinkle trips played on Wednesday, 12 June overall winners were Elaine Critchlow, Estelle van der Merwe and Bessie Vergottini.

The first session was won by Denise Bingham, Karthy Sharp and Dani Cardoso, second session went to Tokkie De Kock, Amanda Ninow and Dawn Schauer. The spider was won by Danni Cardoso and the 100 board by Estelle van der Merwe.

In the men’s Kwik Spar trips played on Thursday, 13 June, overall winners were Barry Hilton, Andrew Darling and Alan Baxter. Second sessions winners were John Scott, Tony Fitzsimmons and Mike Joyce. The 100 board was won by Rob Troughton.

Club competition results: In the men’s pairs, Ivan van den Bergh and Barrie de Wee won against Coy Schrauven and Rob Troughton. In the men’s 2-4-2, Paul Hedley and Eric Morsner defeated Brian Hollis and Rob Stewart. The draw for the mixed pairs is up on the board, members are requested to get the games going as there will be a cut off date.

Women and men’s inter club league final games will be played on Saturday, 22 June. The women will play Amanzimtoti C at Durban Collegians. The men’s fifth division will play Stella Park and the sixth division will play at home against Lahee Park.

Starting time for all games is 12.30pm. The next men’s 2-4-2 takes place on Thursday, 27 June at 8.30am for 9am. All skips and bowlers to note it is your duty to ensure your teams are available for the game. Should you have a problem, Barrie de Wee will assist you.

The monthly mixed trips will be played on Saturday, 29 June, at 8.30am for 9am, the list is up on the board. All skips and bowlers to ensure their teams are available for the game, contact Lou Bingham. There will be a braai after the game. The women’s Kwik Spar Winkle trips will be played on Thursday, 4 July, at 8.30am for 9am, contact Lou Bingham.

The club wishes Lou Bingham, Elaine Critchlow and Sylveigh Ananiadis good bowling in the first round of the Port Natal trips on Sunday, 23 June, at Hillcrest Club.

Friday evening’s meal was thoroughly enjoyed by all. The club thanks Bessie Vergottini and Wilma Richter for the delicious food, Maureen Griffin for the salad and Trish Farmer for the pudding. The attendance draw was won by Rob Troughton but as he was not present, there is a carry over. There will not be a meal on Friday, 21 June. Social bowls is on Wednesdays and Fridays at 1.30pm for 2pm. Bowlers and non-bowlers are all welcome for a game. The club wishes all those with birthdays in June a blessed year ahead.
