Man robbed at gunpoint on Gardner Road

The CCPO also warns house sellers to be aware of three women who are entering properties under false pretences.

The Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO) has warned pedestrians to be alert, especially after dark. This comes after a man was held up at gunpoint and robbed of his cellphone and wallet in Gardner Road on Thursday evening, 13 June by suspects in a silver VW Polo.

“On Sunday night I was driving in Gardner Road at about 6pm and I saw a couple walking in the dark. The woman’s face lit up with the light from her phone as she was texting. These guys are opportunists and thrive on this sort of invitation. Warn friends and family not to set themselves up to become the next target,” said CCPO committee member, George Snodey.

The CCPO also warns house sellers to be aware of three women who are driving around looking at show houses and stopping at houses with for sale boards. “Once inside the house they plunder whatever they can get their hands on. “I spoke to a Warner Beach resident on Tuesday, 11 June who said they stopped at his place. He had left, but his daughter was home at the time.

“They gave her a big story about having just missed the estate agent and asked to be allowed to have a quick look to see if it’s worth coming back to have a better look. They took anything they could conceal under their clothing and were gone in a flash. Warn your children about this tactic and if anyone sees them in the area, call the CCPO, as we would like to interview them.”
