ABC’s Doreen qualifies for PN senior masters

Good bowling to all the players in the final round of the inter-club league on Saturday, 22 June

There was a good turnout of members in the president’s tabs-in on Sunday, 16 June, at Toti Bowling Club.

The winners were Pam Chalder-Royle, Martin Birch, Brian Masters and William Sithole; runners-up were Alec Stirzaker, Mike Pitchers, John Allers and Shaun Fagan. The first session went to Alan McGregor, Barry Buckland, Dave Gardner and Alet Wobben; the second session was won by Ian Mills, Jackie Holdrick, Keith West and Jaylene Fagan and most bowls went to John Hewgill, Eric Klopper, Neville Roscoe and Monica Visser. Leonie Mills won the 100 board.

Thanks go to the club’s president, Ian Mills, for the prizes and for organising the tabs, Jackie Holdrick for taking money at the door, Alan McGregor for scoring, Doug Joubert for the music, and to the bar and kitchen staff. Mention must be made of Gustav Somers and Rita Marais for organising the delicious roast lunch to round off Father’s Day morning.

Congratulations to Doreen Salmond, who topped her group in the qualifying masters played over the weekend and good bowling to her in the Port Natal women’s senior masters. Julie Sutherland and Amanda Ninow defeated Elmarie Young and Elbie Fourie in the women’s nominated pairs. In the women’s novice singles, Carole Glaves defeated Cathy Badenhorst; Dawn Schauer beat Carole and then went on to defeat Jenny Rautenbach, and Dani Cardoso overcame Jaylene Fagan. The annual Pam Golding women’s fours tournament will take place on Wednesday, 24 and Thursday, 25 July. Entry forms are on the board and need to be completed as soon as possible. The 80th birthday festival has been rescheduled for Saturday and Sunday, 2 and 3 November.

At TGIF, Greg Veldtman won the 100 board. Linda McGregor was not in attendance to win the members’ draw; next week’s prize will be worth R200. Lys McDonald was unlucky not to choose the correct key; next week’s lucky key will be worth R4 580.

Good bowling to all the players in the final round of the inter-club league on Saturday, 22 June, as well as to the seven women and men’s teams playing the first round of Port Natal trips on Sunday, 23 June. Happy birthday wishes to Pam Chalder-Royle this week.
