Toti crime fighters nab gang of thieves

The suspects' luck ran out when their vehicle was picked up in Warner Beach.

A gang of theft out of vehicle thieves were nabbed thanks to Amanzimtoti crime fighters on Thursday afternoon, 6 June. “Our tactical response team (TRT) received information about a wanted vehicle entering Warner Beach,” said ET Rapid Response South Coast managing member, Tony Lokker.

The vehicle, a silver Toyota Etios, was allegedly used in a theft out of motor vehicle incident by Crossways Spar. “The suspects were identified via CCTV footage and details were distributed on our security crime groups. At about 3pm their luck ran out when the vehicle was picked up in Warner Beach by our TRT, who followed them while calling for back-up over the CCPO radio network.”

The vehicle was followed onto the N2 southbound and pulled over by Amanzimtoti SAPS crime prevention unit, assisted by ET’s TRTs, just past Umgababa. Three suspects were detained and the vehicle, fitted with false number plates, was impounded.

“All were handed in at Brighton Beach SAPS, where they are being detained and charged accordingly. The CCPO network and partnership between certain local security companies, Metro Police K9 unit and SAPS showed yet again what happens when criminals come to Toti to commit their crimes. Well done to all involved,” said Lokker.
