International artist to share his talent at the next USCAA meeting

THE Upper South Coast Art Association (USCAA) will hold it’s June meeting at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 615 Kingsway Road on Saturday, 15 June.

The meeting will begin at 1pm and end at about 4pm. Refreshments will be supplied for a small fee. The afternoon meeting will be preceded by the morning drawing session which will start at 9am and end at about noon. The drawing class for the year will be presented by Patricia McCann. As always, this promises to be exciting, so get your drawing materials ready and make sure you include:
The three primary colours (red, blue, yellow) plus black and white will be used. Bring along chalk or oil pastels, or pencil crayons, charcoal, and if you have, white chalk. And always bring enough spare paper to do rough or warm-up drawings, plus a variety of pencils, rubber/ putty rubber and even pens.

The guest artist this month will be Brent Dodd, who was born and raised in Zimbabwe, growing up on a farm in the Eastern Highlands. His subject matter is uniquely reflective of his own experience and his affection for this world of adventure and fascination. Committing his thoughts and findings to canvas, he portrays humans, landscapes and wildlife with equal precision and empathy.
It was this upbringing that provided him with the foundation from which he launched his venture into the international art world. Having exhibited in New York, Las Vegas, Dallas, London and across the African subcontinent, he enjoys a strict schedule of international travel, building a footprint to satisfy his love of art.

Brent offers sip and sketch functions as well as luxury safari sketching holidays. What better time and place to double up on a luxury safari holiday and trying a new experience. An extraordinary lodge experience in the heart of Africa’s wilderness, what more could you ask for? The early morning game drives afford you the ideal opportunity to stop and sketch under the expert guidance of internationally represented artist, Brent Dodd. Brent also rents out his artwork to corporations. On Saturday, 15 June, Brent will work through a start to finish landscape, illustrating succinct colour use and economic painting techniques.
