Pedal car derby brings campers from far and wide together

Some 102 caravans from seven different regions descended on Karridene

THE sunshine coast region of the Caravan Club of South Africa (CCSA) recently held its famous ‘pedal car derby’ and rally at the Protea Hotel by Marriott, Karridene.

Some 102 caravans from seven different regions descended on Karridene for a glorious, balmy end of April weekend, encompassing lots of camaraderie and fun. Regions were invited to enter a pedal car or two pedaled by a team of six, competing for the most laps pedalled in a one hour time frame.

A team from North Coast were the worthy winners, but much fun was had by all. A food tent manned by sunshine members provided burgers, pancakes and breakfast rolls all of which went down very well.

While Natal Caravan and Marine who also had some of their new caravans on display, were the main sponsors, many local sponsors contributed to goody bags and raffle prizes and a bumper prize-giving resulted.

Sunshine coast are an awesome bunch of campers who camp once a month, rarely further than an hour away from Toti. Membership fees are very low and visitors and new members are always welcome. Call Carolyn, on 081-347-6529 for further information.
