Winkle area rocked by mystery explosions

THE Winklespruit area has been rocked by explosions on two consecutive Monday nights.

The blasts have got authorities mystified. On Monday, 9 May, one explosion was heard in the area at about 10pm. This Monday two explosions were heard one after the other at around 8.45pm. Dot McInally, of Winifred Close, said the blasts rocked her home sending her pets into a state of panic. Police confirmed reports of the explosions.


Car production comes to a halt

PRODUCTION came to a standstill at Toyota’s Prospecton plant on Tuesday after continual go slow strikes by workers.

The work stoppage affects 6 800 hourly paid workers in the assembly plant, stamping plant and component manufacturing facility. A spokesman for Toyota said production was halted after go slow action by workers on Monday and Tuesday.

Petrol attendant robbed, stabbed

A PETROL attendant was stabbed and R10 000 stolen in a armed robbery at a Prospecton service station on Monday morning, 23 May.

At 10.35am, a man armed with a knife and handgun approached petrol attendant, Ephew Mzodumile (34), at the Shell service station next to the Hyperama and demanded money.
