Contractors deployed to repair damage on Rockview Road

Speed fencing has been erected around the site and ward 97 councillor, Andre Beetge urged residents to not cross it.

At a site meeting held at the washaway site on Rockview Road on Sunday morning, 28 April, Leomat has been deployed as contractors to stabilise the area.

Speed fencing has been erected around the site and ward 97 councillor, Andre Beetge urged residents to not cross it. “Unfortunately the crane that was used to lift out vehicles on Friday destabilised the ground even further,” said Beetge.

A proposed detour from Rockview Road to Kingsway was not approved by council, so motorists are advised to travel via Seaforth Street into Boundary Road to get to Kingsway and Boundary Road into Lesley Way to get from Kingsway to Rockview or Old Main Road.

An alternate route from Seadoone Road is into Garden and School roads.
“The washaway has been declared an emergency as stipulated in section 36 of the municipal act, which is the first priority of storm damage,” said Beetge.
