What the children say: Easter egg-citement grows

Learners of Emojis Creche in Amanzimtoti shared their thoughts on the Easter bunny, their favourite eggs, and what Easter means to them.

AS Easter morning approaches at a rapid speed, excitement among the town’s youth (many adults are not exempt) grows.

There are few things more exciting than the chocolate-laden Easter bunny’s visit, not forgetting the long-weekend it introduces to our calendar. In an attempt to capture the magic this mystical creature brings to the children of the town, the South Coast Sun paid a visit to Emojis Créche in Doonside, Amanzimtoti on Wednesday morning, 10 April.

Filled with excitement, the learners eagerly elaborated on their experiences with the bunny, just how this mystical creature looks, and what sweet treats they’d most appreciate come Easter morning.

Mienke Weppelman: My favourite eggs are the chocolate ones. The Easter bunny doesn’t bring me eggs, my mom does. I am very excited for Easter.

Petro Janse van Rensburg: I think that the Easter bunny is white, but I haven’t seen him before. My favourite Easter eggs are the ones that taste good.

Thando Dlamini: I haven’t seen the Easter bunny, but I think that she’s a girl and is pink with purple clothes. My favourite eggs are the marshmallow ones.

Jahnu La Grange: The Easter bunny is pink and very big, I’m very excited to see him.

Inathi Maguni: I haven’t seen the Easter bunny before, but I think its a girl. I’m going to look for her this Easter. I don’t really want Easter eggs.

Luhandré Williams: I haven’t seen the Easter bunny before but I think its a small, pink, boy rabbit. I’m really excited and hope that he brings me the soccer Easter eggs.

Qhawe Mhlango: I’m really excited for Easter morning. The Easter bunny is a boy and is many colours. I hope he brings me chocolate eggs.

Liz-Mari Potgieter: The Easter bunny is a girl and is pink. On Easter morning I jump on my mom’s bed, and tell her that “the Easter bunny is here wake up!”. I usually get four eggs. My favourite are marshmallow brown ones, they are yummy and tasty.

Mikayla Malan: My mom wakes me up on Easter morning and it’s very exciting. The Easter bunny is white, and my favourite eggs are the blue ones. I haven’t yet drawn a picture of the bunny this year, but I’m very excited for Easter.
