Athlone Park pipe repairs complete, water to be restored soon

Ward 97's Cllr Andre Beetge updated on the repairs.

ATHLONE Park residents, who are without water due to a burst pipe along Kingsway, have been assured that their water supply will return as soon as possible.

Ward 97 Cllr Andre Beetge provided an update on the repairs.

“The actual repair is complete. A new section of pipe has been laid with couplings fitted. We are now waiting backfill material and the TLB to close up the pipe,” he said.

Cllr Beetge explained that the water supply cannot be opened before this, as the pipe needs to be embedded first as merely opening it will lead to an immediate rupture.

“We are awaiting confirmation on the availability as the department is also attending problems in bordering areas,” he said.
