2019 SKZNBA committee includes: Chairman Shaun Venter, vice chair Byron Gertze, media liaison Samantha Peace, treasurer Bradley Gertze.

“The SA Bodyboarding Championships will form part of the Amanzi Challenge that takes place in Port Alfred,” explained Samantha Peace. “The Amanzi Challenge is a widely publicised event which has attracted substantial interest of numerous water sport competitions, creating a ‘fun in the sun’ environment for families attending the numerous events on offer.

The SKZNBA team is working hard to get sponsorships to get the team to the championship. The team is embarking on some fundraising initiatives, including raffles and more, and would appreciate any support that the community could offer.”

With some 200 riders and some 2,000 spectators on the beach, businesses are urged to take this opportunity to sponsor the team, thus promoting their business.

“This annual contest has been the pinnacle of the SABA tour since the inaugural event held at Jeffrey’s Bay in 1987, with 2019 marking its 32nd anniversary. Over the years, the SA Bodyboarding National Championship has established itself as the most eagerly anticipated and hardest fought of the competitions on the SABA circuit. Over 200 top bodyboarders from seven national teams are drawn in search of individual South African bodyboarding champion honours, and to compete for the ultimate honour of the team trophy, ‘The Fishman’,” said Samantha.

“The contest takes place during the April Easter holidays and provides highly popular entertainment for the mass of holidaymakers who flock to the beaches. With great prizes and the high level of riding, this contest has proven a firm favourite among contestants and spectators alike.”

Sponsorship options include brand exposure right from the training phase through to the end of the championships, through transport branding, structure branding, clothing branding and on location branding.
