A HOUSEBREAKING suspect was killed and another three arrested during a shoot-out in Eland Avenue last week with police.

During a late night raid to collect their stolen property, six suspects were surprised by W/O Rassie Erasmus and Constable Eugene Barnett who had sat guarding the property in the bush.

After a usual housebreaking investigation, W/O Erasmus was contacted by the complainant as he had found his property in the bush near his home.

MAC McGregor of Doonside will be without a roof over his head this week if an eviction order, placed on him by new owners of the flat building, is effected.

Mac entered into a six month lease agreement for his flat at Cathmar Court, Doonside in January this year. Due to the fact that he was working seven days a week, 12 hours a day, the lease was not signed until 11 January, although occupation was effective from 3 January.

A CAMRY worth R85,000 was stolen from Tugela Toyota by a conman on Wednesday, 23 March.

The neatly dressed man, who called himself Dr Moloi, walked into the Tugela Toyota showroom at about lunch time and asked to see a three litre Cressida for his wife.

After learning that there were no such vehicles on the floor at the time, the man spotted a Camry and enquired about the cost. The vehicle in question belonged to a private individual and the ‘buyer’ was taken to see the man, who works in Toti.

PARKING facilities at Louis Botha airport are about to change.

“The old parking system structure offers no financial incentive for medium and long-term parking. Some motorists have parked for up to a week in the short-term area,” said general manager of Airports Company at Louis Botha, Francois Swanepoel.

THE Toti area was quiet last Friday, 25 March when thousands of people converged on Durban to show their support for the coming elections.

W/O Rassie Erasmus of Toti CID said there were no reports of damage received from residents. He said one man was seriously injured when he fell from a southbound train at Isipingo Station. This happened after a large group of marchers from the KwaMakhutha area had congregated at the station, hoping to catch a train to Durban.
