Amanzimtoti-based relief aid efforts continue to rally for donations in wake of #CycloneIdai

Donations of non-perishable food, clothing, water and hygiene products are desperately needed and can be dropped off at various donation points.

WHILE Cyclone Idai wreaked havoc as it tore through South Africa’s eastern coastal neighbours last week, locals have rallied together to donate towards relief aid efforts supporting the KZN Food and Water Drive’s disaster aid missions currently underway.

Donations of non-perishable food, clothing, water and hygiene products are desperately needed and can be dropped off at various donation points.

In light of the devastation of cyclone Idai in Mozambique and neighbouring countries, Ajay Ramlall rallied the community to make donations, in the hope that these efforts will bring some relief to the region.
Ajay said the donations have and will be shipped and air freighted to the area.

“We have received a container, sponsored graciously by Caltex Gateway.

We hope to fill this container by the end of the week so we can send it off and fill another one next week,” said Ajay. “It’s such a blessing to see how KZN has opened up its hearts to this cause. The love from the people and the determination from individuals shows how far people will go to help fellow human beings.”

Ajay has accumulated donations of food, blankets, water and clothing and hygiene products, and a Durban-based doctor has set out to provide medical attention to the many affected.
