Empathetic members of the community came on board yesterday (Tuesday, 26 March) to help Prudence Khuzwayo, who was discharged from Prince Mshyeni Hospital with what seemed to be not enough treatment to her severe wounds, transported to another medical facility to receive necessary care.

“My mom’s wounds were cleaned and bandaged up on the day of the attack (Monday, 25 March), and she was discharged with two different types of pain killers – one to take normally and one to take when the pain is really bad,” said Prudence’s daughter, Thola.

The family, who reside in Illovo Township, struggled to get transported back to a hospital for further care to be administered for Prudence’s injuries.

When he heard about the incident, Chris Botha arranged for ER24 to take Prudence to King Edward VIII Hospital in Umbilo.

Thola updated the Sun on Wednesday morning, 27 March explaining that her mom is still in hospital and is being treated very well, receiving the medical care she desperately needed. Immense gratitude was expressed for the intervention of Chris Botha and ER24.

Kaylie Vermeulen is still in Life Chatsmed Hospital, where she was moved to from Kingsway Hospital when it was found that she needed emergency plastic surgery, and is on the road to recovery.
