Tips: How to de-stress after exams

Check out these ways to help pupils de-stress and limit the risk of them developing anxiety.

Exams can be the most stressful time in a school child’s life and sometimes parents aren’t aware of what their children are going through emotionally and mentally.

Exam time is a hectic period for pupils as the marks determine the rest of their schooling career as well as future career. After exams are done, pupils still tend to stress about how they did in their papers and start to over-think about their answers and effort they have put into their papers.

There are ways to help them de-stress and limit the risk of them developing anxiety. According to collegexpress.com there are many ways to de-stress after an exam and help them mentally prepare for their next exam.

Take a deep breath: Breath in and slowly breath out, remember that everything will be okay. The stress you are feeling now is temporary and will go away if you just remember to breathe.

Exercise: According to  collegexpress.com it’s scientifically proven that while you exercise, your brain releases endorphins that instantly lighten your mood (and your stress!)

Netflix and chill: Let your children take a break from the books and allow them to indulge in some light-hearted movie time to take their minds off their school life for at least an hour or two.

Music:  Music is known to relax the brain as it promotes the release of endorphins (the happy chemical).  It also tends to give the child a moment of relaxation and peace.
