 The Treehouse Stage

The Splashy Fen Treehouse Stage has been a magical hit since its inception in 2017. A hand-made wattle stage hidden under the trees in the Splashy Fen forest has become a popular platform for budding musicians to showcase their skills. The vibe is laid back, the décor is whimsical and other-worldly and the vendors trading in this area offer a range of esoteric products and services.

Music performances start from 3:15pm on Thursday, 18 April; so come and enjoy music from Dawn Morey, The North and South, Gavin Ferguson, Blessing Tangban, Nipho Hurd and Chad Jubber, to name a few.

Throughout the four-day festival, you will also be treated to a series of Belly dancing workshops and performances, Digeridoo and Flow workshops, and the Art-Go-Round interactive billboard – all an annual occurrence at the Treehouse Stage that makes Splashy Fen an experience of participation, something Impi Concept Events, the festival management team, have worked very hard to create.

“As a business, we are passionate about the South African music scene.” Says Creative Director, Andrew van Rensburg. “But what we’ve come to learn since we first took over the iconic festival in 2016, is that people come out to Underberg to enjoy more than just the music. Families big and small, groups of friends young and old… there are all types of people on site across the Easter long-weekend and it’s our mission, and pleasure, to provide pockets of experiences for them all.”

The Acoustic Stage

Another firm favourite, and surrounded by over 30 delish food vendors in the Splashy Fen Food Court Area, is the Acoustic Stage. Join David Fisher, Bad Peter, Freddy-L, Hayden Rattray, Rowan Stuart, Lanky Jake, Hollowbody and more across the 4-day festival. Pull up a hay bale, order your lunch and stay ‘til dinner enjoying the great sounds of great talent with friends old and new. From acoustic solos to bango-playing harmonies, an electric jazz set from Durban favourites Veranda Panda, and a Splashy Legends line-up hosted by locals Don Clarke and Dicky Roberts, and featuring none other than South African icon PJ Powers.

The Splashy Fen Main Stage

The Splashy Fen Main Stage kicks off on Friday the 19th of April, and is set to have the crowds on their feet all night and all weekend. Ben Dey &The Concrete Lions, Jeremy Loops, Wonderboom, Kim Churchill, YOUNGR, MiCasa and Splashy Fen’s main headliner act, Wheatus are just some of the acts to catch.

The Corona River Stage

Fans can look forward to another stellar line-up at the Corona River Stage from Friday morning. The Mavericks will open the festivities down on the popular river banks, followed by Sutherland, Minananzi Mbira, The Kickstands, The Steezies and more. Fans can also look forward to what is fast becoming a River Stage tradition, with a Surprise Set, where the stage is handed over to an acts from the festival’s line-up. If the 2018 Surprise Set is anything to go by, you do no want to miss this!

The Red Square Electric Boma

For those fans looking to dance the night away, the Red Square Electric Boma is a hive of great music, quirky décor and party starters; catch Slim Beats, Royal Love, Huckleberry, Craig Rude, Kyle Deutsch, Crazy White Boy and East Coast Radio’s Bongani Mtolo, plus more.

“Dubbed one of South Africa’s most popular radio personalities and DJs, Splashy is proud to host Bongani Mtolo as part of our partnership with East Coast Radio,” said Stu Berry, festival director. “Having both Bongani playing at our Red Square Electirc Boma as well as East Coast Radio broadcasting LIVE for their Drive Time Show further entrenches the fact that Splashy has such an extensive reach and appeal; all types of people, all types of sounds, all weekend long.”
