City resolves orange bag dispute

Residents are advised to continue placing their recyclables in black bags or take it to the closest refuse transfer station until the orange bags are delivered.

Ward 97 councillor, Andre Beetge said the city’s supply chain management has indicated that the dispute over the contract for orange bags has been resolved and all households should receive their allotment of bags delivered from April.

“If contractors fail to pick up, Durban Solid Waste (DSW) will arrange for collection. For the moment, contractors are not collecting, so until further notice and actual confirmation of all appeals being resolved, I recommend you either place the recyclables in the black bags with normal household refuse, or take it to the closest refuse transfer station,” he said.
