BREAKING NEWS: One dead in N2 shootout near Doonside

A shootout took place on the N2 southbound near Doonside at 2pm today (Friday, 15 March).

ONE male was fatally shot during a shootout that took place along the N2 southbound, near Doonside today (Friday, 15 March) around 2pm.

The active crime scene has affected traffic and all motorists are urged to refrain from using the N2, if possible.

Gunshots were heard around 2pm this afternoon and motorists travelling along the N2 explained that they ‘immediately came to a stop’.

“One male has been fatally shot near the Doonside offramp, on the N2 southbound,” said VEMA Paramedics’ Jaun du Plessis. “Medics are mobile on the scene along with Amanzimtoti SAPS. Those passing by have been asked to try and avoid the crime scene.”

It has been alleged that the man fatally shot was an off-duty SAP member but this has yet to be confirmed.

All necessary emergency personnel are at the scene and a helicopter is circling the area. Those passing by are asked to refrain from taking pictures of the scene and posting on social media platforms. If anyone is possessing information about the vehicle used in the shooting, or other information pertaining to the crime scene, contact Amanzimtoti Police Station immediately.
