Amanzimtoti Beach Road homeowner survives brutal attack

The victim was stabbed in his left arm, chest and right arm.

A Beach Road resident is lucky to be alive after he was attacked and stabbed five times by an intruder in the early hours of Wednesday morning, 6 March.

The 44-year-old man, who did not wish to be named, woke up with the sound of something falling over and went to investigate. He confronted an intruder, who attacked him and stabbed him three times in the left arm, in the chest and right arm. “The knife wound in his chest missed his lung by one millimetre,” said his wife.

During the struggle, one of their cellphones fell out of the intruder’s pocket and the wife managed to retrieve it. “He kept saying to my husband he is coming back for me,” she said. “I am traumitised – I don’t even want to sleep here anymore, especially since he came in through my bedroom window.”

Although bleeding profusely from his wounds, the husband managed to push his attacker out of their second storey window. He landed on a parked vehicle but managed to jump the fence and escape with the wife’s handbag and another cellphone. However, his knife was left behind and the police have opened a case.
