Support for Same Love’s #InMyTown campaign

Same Love Toti thanked all those who chose to make a stand against hate and violence on Saturday, by joining the march on Toti Main Beach.

SAME Love Toti beamed at the success of the #InMyTown campaign on Saturday, 23 February, that saw the public rally after a man wearing an LGBTI shirt was attacked on a local beach.

Same Love Toti and other supporters arrived on Toti Main Beach in the blazing heat and wind to reinforce the Amanzimtoti values of mutual acceptance, respect and safety for all people, including the lesbian, gay, transgender and queer community.

Same Love Toti thanked all those who chose to make a stand against hate and violence on Saturday, by joining the march on Toti Main Beach.

“Especially our thanks goes to Michael Anderson who was brave enough to re-visit the place of his attack, and be the face of the #InMyTown Campaign. All of you are paving the way for a more inclusive and safe Amanzimtoti for everyone,” added Kim.

“The medical profession has long since de-pathologised diversity of gender and/or orientation, and are in the process of adopting affirming practises throughout South Africa,” explained founder Kim Lithgow. “Equally heartening are the South African laws that protect and uphold the freedoms of all its citizens.

However, the sad truth is that society at large remains exclusionary and at times violent towards the LGBTI community. We have seen this recently expressed through an unprovoked attack that took place on Toti Main Beach earlier this month.”
