Swift teamwork secures housebreaker’s arrest

The suspect walked all the way to Umbogintwini Beach where he was caught.

A housebreaker was apprehended after some great teamwork by local law enforcement officers on Tuesday afternoon, 26 February.

ET Rapid Response officer Louis van Ryneveld was stopped by a gardener in Ocean View Road, in Athlone Park after he had seen someone break into a house and then jump over the fence and flee onto the beach.

Van Ryneveld called for assistance and the suspect was observed heading north on the beach. Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO) and Blue Security officers assisted by waiting for the suspect to walk all the way to Umbogintwini Beach where he was caught.
