Thieves caught with stolen cables and aluminum pieces

Pieces of cable and aluminum, which were cut and ready to be sold, was hidden inside the tarpaulin.

Two cable thieves were arrested by local low enforcement officers on Monday afternoon, 18 February.

ET Rapid Response South Coast managing member, Tony Lokker said their tactical response team was returning from KwaMakutha, where they assisted the SAPS with the successful recovery of a stolen Toyota Fortuner, when they came across two suspicious looking men carrying a heavy load, concealed in a tarp.

“Hidden inside the tarpaulin were lots of pieces of cable and aluminum, cut into pieces ready to be sold. The suspects were apprehended and with the help of Cst Mbongwe of Toti SAPS, the two were taken to the police station and charged.

These types of criminals are causing millions of Rands in damages annually. Well done boys for spotting these perpetrators,” he said.
