City to replace, repair damaged street lights

Report faulty street lights to 080-131-3111.

Head of eThekwini electricity, Maxwell Mthembu announced that the tender for street light repairs is ready and awaiting signature by city manager, Sipho Nzuza, which could result in replacements and repairs, starting in March.

This come after an extended period without the necessary contracts and limited in-house repairs, resulting in an increased security risk across the city.

Residents are requested to exercise patience, as with the excessive backlog it will take considerable time to reduce the number of faulty lights. When reporting faulty street lights to 080-131-3111 it is important to convey the street name, suburb and specific pole number – note the reference number for follow-up purposes.
