Call for Amanzimtoti River clean-up volunteers

"We are all hitting Toti River to remove the hyacinth onto the banks. The water hyacinth is starting to return so this is a maintenance event," explained Toti's Shaun Callaghan.

AN organised clean-up of the Amanzimtoti River will take place on Saturday, 9 February and all efforts will be made to remove the hyacinth which is choking all life in the river.

Volunteers are asked to meet in the parking lot of Amanzimtoti Athletic Club at 8.30am.

“We are all hitting Toti River to remove the hyacinth onto the banks. The water hyacinth is starting to return so this is a maintenance event,” explained Toti’s Shaun Callaghan.

Anyone who is keen on taking part should take along closed shoes or gumboots, a pool net or a long-pitch fork (a longer handle helps), drinks and some snacks.

A braai may take place after the clean-up somewhere close by. For more information contact Barry on 083-459-8253 or Shaun on 084-516-7463.
