VIDEO: Change how you live life

The Japanese live a life that one can adopt. Read how their habits can change yours.

While we love being South African, and we have many good qualities, it is good to look at other cultures like Japan to see how they live their life and maybe draw some inspiration from their everyday routine and mannerisms. For example, last year during the Fifa World Cup, we all watched with awe when Japanese fans started cleaning up the stadium after each game they attended and with a smile on their face.

So, it should get one thinking – are the Japanese really that good and how can one learn from them?

Clean: For one, which we all know is that they are clean. It’s not just the stadium but everything they do in life is clean. Clean living, clean eating.  So live your life as clean as possible, it will certainly bring on less stress.

Healthy diet: The Japanese, like most Asian countries, are known for their largely healthy meals which is almost always fresh produce and from the earth.  They shy away from processed food, eat from smaller plates or bowls and sit around a table with family and friends. Clean out your pantry and fridge and remove all your processed and junk food.

Weird: Japan is known for their weirdness and they are unapologetic about it. They are having fun with their crazy games and weird sweets, so be like the Japanese and embrace your weirdness!

Manners: Japanese is known as the most polite nation on Earth One reason is the concept of “omotenashi or hospitality. In this world of chaos and hate, learn from them and be kinder to each other and help people when you see a need. Be more considerate of one’s feeling and also don’t take everything as an offence.

Fit: Most Japanese people are small and agile and some still practise traditional martial arts and meditation known as Zazen. Take a leaf out of their book and consider exercise and meditation for a balanced mind and body.
