With the spirit of goodwill and a sense of compassion, a local businessman spread joy at the Amanzimtoti SPCA when he decided to celebrate his 50th birthday differently this year.
Having realised that the festive season also increased the burden on the local SPCA, Jose de Paiva requested for friends and family to rather consider dog or cat food as opposed to a gift for him for his birthday. Thanks to his unselfish request a welcomed load of food just short of 200kg was delivered to Amanzimoti SPCA on Tuesday morning, 22 January.
“Unfortunately for the dogs (and possibly my liver) not everyone received the message on time but we are glad that we were able to make a difference,” said Jose. “I wish to challenge our business community, some of whom have the local community to thank for their success, to think slightly outside the box this coming year and assist within our community where it is most needed.”
