Help make fundraising projects a roaring success

If you also have a passion to help the less fortunate, join the Lions Club in their quest to serve.

The Kingsburgh Lions Club looks forward to serving the Amanzimtoti community during the second half of the 2018/19 Lionistic year. “In order to give of our best, we would love the public to support our two up-coming fundraisers,” said Kingsburgh Lions Club president, Moira Rigby.

The Lions’ monthly fleamarket is held on the first Saturday of each month at St Mary’s Church Hall, 157 Kingsway, Warner Beach between 7am and 11am. The first one of the year is scheduled for Saturday, 2 February.

“There are lots of stalls to visit, from second-hand goods to arts and crafts. There is also a tea garden where you can purchase vetkoek or pancakes, cold drinks or tea, and cakes to keep the hunger pangs away while you shop.” For more information or to book a stall, call Sonia Jarrett on 072-761-1610.

The second fundraiser is a Valentine’s celebration on Saturday, 16 February at Lords and Legends, Amanzimtoti Sports Club, starting at 6.30pm for 7pm. “The cost is R150 per person, which includes a tasty meal, spot prizes and music by DJ Michael. There will also be an American auction, so don’t miss out on an enjoyable evening’s entertainment.” To purchase tickets, call Moira on 082-876-3239 or Sonia.

From Thursday, 31 January Kingsburgh Lions will collect groceries at Pick n Pay Arbour Crossing on the last Thursday of each month and at Checkers Seadoone on the first Thursday of each month to help feed the hungry and less fortunate in the community.

“We will continue with our free diabetes testing, as well as blood pressure checks on request, on the second Saturday of each month at Pick n Pay Arbour Crossing, as well as helping the elderly and unemployed with eye tests, spectacles, hearing aids where possible, and hospital visitations.

“If you also have a passion to help those less fortunate come along and join us in our quest to serve,” said Moira. For more information about Kingsburgh Lions, call Pat Wilson on 082-550-3159 or Moira.
