WEATHER ALERT: Durbanites, prepare for a sizzling hot Friday
Scorching temperatures are set to descend upon Durban on Friday, 18 January.
This Friday, 18 January, will be a scorcher for Durbanites with max temperatures ranging from 32°C to 35°C, according to weather sites.
Temperatures are predicted to drop that evening and see a few showers pass. Saturday is predicted to be a much cooler day with rain predicted.
Durbanites, remember:
- To drink a lot of fluids (especially water).
- To not physically exert yourself to the extent that could result in heat exhaustion.
- Load on the deo (or powder) to keep excessive sweat at bay.
- Optimise your fans and windows (draping your open windows during the day may keep the inside of your home cooler than if you let the sun beat in all day long).
- Keep food cool and avoid using the oven.
- Apply ice or a cool wet facecloth to your body’s best cooling points (neck, wrists, ankles, feet) to naturally cool down your body.
However hot, don’t forget: Why you should switch off the aircon this summer

- Stick to the highways if you can, rather than taking side streets.
