Remote jammers arrested with stolen goods

The suspects' vehicle details were obtained via CCTV footage and circulated on the CCPO radio network.

A gang of remote jammers were nabbed this morning (Thursday, 17 January) at Kingsburgh Shopping Centre through combined efforts by local crime fighters.

“Last week a gang of three suspects robbed an unsuspecting customer of his cellphone at a Warner Beach shop by jamming his car’s remote locking mechanism. The suspects’ vehicle details were obtained via CCTV footage and circulated on the Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO) radio network. This morning their luck ran out,” said ET Rapid Response South Coast managing member, Tony Lokker.

The three remote jammers caught at Kingsburgh Shopping Centre on Thursday morning, 17 January.

At about 8.30am the same vehicle was seen entering the Warner Beach area. CCPO committee member, George Snodey kept them under observation while the rest of the team waited in strategic points to block any possible escape.

“The suspects left Warner Beach and proceeded to Kingsburgh Shopping Centre. There they were observed remote jamming a vehicle. Once the suspect was inside the vehicle, we all converged and jammed in all three suspects,” said Snodey.

Several cellphones were found in their possession, as well as a long distance remote jamming device. All three suspects and their vehicle was handed in at Toti SAPS for further investigation.

“Double check your vehicle to ensure it is locked when out and about. Well done boys, this was teamwork at its finest,” added Snodey.
