Diver suffers cardiac arrest, dies in Umkomaas

Despite best efforts to save the man’s life he was sadly declared deceased on the scene.

A diver died after he suffered a cardiac arrest shortly after surfacing in Umkomaas on Friday afternoon, 11 January.

Netcare 911 media liaison officer, Shawn Herbst said fellow divers initiated CPR while the boat was raced back to shore where CPR was continued by an advanced life support paramedic at about 12.30pm.

Despite best efforts to save the man’s life he was sadly declared deceased on the scene. All necessary authorities were on scene.
