Brian Passmore will be missed

The legend was involved in horse racing, where through he both rode and trained, and was the owner of the iconic River Gardens Hotel.

BELOVED, well-known Amanzimtoti local Brian Passmore (76) died peacefully in hospital on Friday, 4 January after suffering a stroke.

The legend was involved in horse racing, where through he both rode and trained, and was the owner of the iconic River Gardens Hotel.

A well-known character, Brian was involved in the horse racing scene as a jockey and trainer. Relatives explained the Passmores were one of the oldest racing families.

The man was equally well-known to the community, as he owned the River Gardens Hotel which was very much enjoyed by the people of Amanzimtoti through the years. Brian is described as a loving, kind, outgoing person, “someone you could always count on”.

There will be no service for Brian, as he requested that when the time came, it be kept private. He will be sorely missed by his family, friends and two beloved dogs.

“We will always love you Brian, and miss you terribly. We thank you for everything you have done for us,” shared the Passmore family.
