Check your car licence before going on holiday, urges Post Office

Motorists who have not received a renewal notice can download the renewal form online

The SA Post Office urges KwaZulu-Natal motorists to check their car licences before departing on holiday.

Many motorists may not be aware their car license has expired or will expire while on holiday and as such, they could be fined for driving an unlicensed vehicle.

There are 31 Post Office branches in KZN where vehicle owners can renew their vehicle license. By law, vehicle license renewal must be done in the province where the vehicle is registered, so it cannot be done while on holiday in another province.

Motorists who have not received a renewal notice can download the renewal form (ALV) from www.postoffice.co.za. Click on ‘business’ and then ‘Motor vehicle licences’, or go to https://www.postoffice.co.za/Business/vehiclelicenserenewalform.pdf

During the past financial year, more than three million motor vehicle licences were renewed at Post Office branches. Motorists who have received a traffic fine issued in terms of the AARTO Act may pay the traffic fine at any Post Office countrywide.
