Two young Amanzimtoti women held a drive to collect the school shoes of the 2018 matric pupils after their exams to donate to impoverished pupils on the South Coast. Lindelwa Ncube and Silindokuhle Khathi are best friends who have a dream of positively impacting children’s lives.

Since 26 November, they visited Pietermaritzburg Girls High School, Reddam House in Umhlanga and Pinetown Girls High and collected more than 200 pairs of shoes.
They have already donated some of the shoes to Alexander High School and plan to also give to Emgangeni High School and Habiyane Primary School at the start of the new school year.

Some of the shoes collected by Lindelwa and Silindokuhle.

“We always wanted to help others but we didn’t know how we could,” they said. “We then thought of collecting shoes because once matrics have finished writing their last exam, they have no need for their shoes. On the other hand, there are so many impoverished school children who can’t afford to buy them.”

Lindelwa and Silindokuhle both matriculated at Kingsway High School last year and were two of the many matrics who left behind their shoes, for them to be donated to impoverished pupils. If you would like to donate shoes, call Silindokuhle on 067-021-6000 or email silindokuhlekhathi@gmail.com.
