Over a month since Amanzimtoti man vanished

Cobus Smith (33) is still missing over a month since he disappeared on Friday afternoon, 26 October after leaving Amanzimtoti Beach.

COBUS Smith (33) is still missing, almost a month since he disappeared on Friday afternoon, 26 October after being seen fetching his bag and clothing from the Amanzimtoti Beach lifeguards.

He was last seen at about 3pm, whereafter he is said to have left the beach.

Family and friends of the man urge the community to keep an eye out for Cobus, as after suffering an accident, his mental functions are slower than the average adult.

Cobus had only been in Amanzimtoti for about three months and in this time, had become involved in the sea and wished to become a lifeguard. On the Friday of his disappearance, he walked from his home in Bhengu Road to Toti Beach where he went for a swim. He was expected home that afternoon but didn’t return.

Cobus is a tall white man of average weight with dark curly, short hair and light eyes. Cobus’ family have reported him missing and opened a case at the Amanzimtoti SAPS. Family members describe him as friendly, shy and soft-spoken.

Anyone with information regarding Cobus’ whereabouts can contact Linda on 065-838-2939, Leon 065-822-2017, Corne on 079-657-2544 or Amanzimtoti SAPS.
