Business robbers arrested after shoot-out with police

Captain Twala and his members entered the room and apprehended six men inside, one with a gunshot wound to his hip.

Two business robbers were nabbed in Umlazi after a shoot-out with police on Wednesday, 21 November. An Umlazi trio task team, led by Captain Muzi Twala, received information from eThekwini Outer South Cluster crime intelligence on a wanted murder suspect at B section.

On their arrival a suspect inside the room fired shots through the window at them. Captain Twala and his members returned fire, entered the room and apprehended six men inside, one with a gunshot wound to his hip. He was also found with a 9mm pistol in his possession with ammunition.

The other men, aged between 20 and 24, were also wanted for different cases of business robbery, which took place in Amanzimtoti, house robbery and armed robbery. They will be possibly be linked to a number of other serious cases.

“This is excellent team work by the trio task team and crime intelligence. I hope this will send a clear message to the criminals out there, that there is no place to hide,” said station commander of Umlazi SAPS, Brigadier Bongi Ntuli.
