Black Friday at Amanzimtoti SPCA: Microchip your pet at a discounted price

The special deal continues through to Saturday, 24 November.

CONSIDER your pets this Black Friday, 23 November when Amanzimtoti SPCA will offer microchipping for pets at a discounted price of only R120.

The special deal continues through to Saturday, 24 November.

With the increase in dog and cat theft, the shelter urges pet owners to microchip their animals.

Over the festive season many pets go missing or stolen. When a pet is microchipped, it makes it easier to reunite them with their owners. The Amanzimtoti microchips with Identipet, a chip recognised nationally and internationally.

If your pet escapes your yard and is found by someone who does not know where it belongs, the animal can be scanned for the chip at any vet or shelter. The owner’s details show up immediately when the pet is scanned. Any stray pet entering a vet or shelter is routinely scanned for a chip.

Furthermore, when an animal is stolen for dog fighting (cats are used in fighting too), breeding purposes or selling purposes, any visible collars and identification will be removed. Microchipping your pet is a sure way to prove the pet is yours regardless of how much time passes since the theft.

A microchipping success: Stolen Amanzimtoti German Shepherd pup returned to owner before she knew it was missing

This Black Friday’s microchipping deal will take place at the 1 Nyati Road shelter, Athlone Park. Manager Tracey Girling explained that no booking is needed. Pet owners must ensure all dogs are on leads and cats in baskets.

For more information, call Amanzimtoti SPCA on 031-904-2424/5 or visit its offices at 1 Nyati Road office.
