Renowned birding lensman to host photo workshop at Amanzimtoti conservation fest

ORGANISERS of the Wagtail Conservation Festival, which is set to take place on Saturday, 10 November at the Amanzimtoti Sports Club, have announced popular wildlife photographer Albert Froneman will present an inspiring three-hour seminar on the fundamentals of bird photography.

The event is set to be a success, with some of the biggest names in birding circles attending the day.

Albert is based in Johannesburg and has been photographing birds for the past 30 years. He has received numerous local and international awards for his photography and when not behind the camera, he works as an ornithologist in the environmental assessment field. He is a keen bird conservationist and regularly donates images to Birdlife South Africa to promote awareness about birds.

“Albert is an accomplished speaker and will share his in-depth knowledge on the techniques he uses to capture amazing images of birds with the audience. This educational seminar is aimed at beginner or advanced bird and wildlife photographers who would like to learn more about perfecting the art of bird photography,” explained organiser, Adam Cruickshank.

“In the seminar, Albert will cover topics such as equipment requirements, sharpness, camera settings for success, how to take photos of perched or birds in flight, field techniques, composition and perspective, processing techniques, recommendations for a quick and easy workflow using Adobe Lightroom and an editing workflow demonstration.”

The seminar will take place on Saturday, 10 November from 10am until 1pm in the ASC’s conference room at Hutchison Park, Amanzimtoti. Entrance is R250 and it should be noted that this excludes entrance to the festival.
