Four injured in N2 head-on collision

The Durban Fire Department had to use the jaws of life to free the occupants of the vehicle.

Four people were injured, three seriously, when a truck and a vehicle collided head-on on the N2 south, near the old airport, on Sunday night (28 October) at about 9pm.

Rescue Care operations director, Garrith Jamieson said paramedics arrived on the scene to find carnage. The badly damaged vehicles came to rest on the concrete median. Two people were found entrapped in the vehicle with serious injuries and while advanced life support paramedics worked to stabilise them in the vehicle, the Durban Fire Department used the jaws of life to cut them free.

Once freed, the two were transported to hospital. The truck driver and vehicle driver were also injured and transported to hospital.

The events leading up to the collision are unknown, however SAPS were on scene and will investigate further.
