The famous smile symbol was created by Harvey Ball, a commercial artist from Worcester, Massachusetts. According to metro.co.uk, Ball’s also started World Smile Day which is to devote one day each year to smiles and kind acts throughout the world and marked the first Friday of October to celebrate the day. After his death in 2001, his legacy continued throughout the world.
