Seed of Hope speaker warms AWI’s hearts

“Grant that we may realise that it is the little things that create differences, that in the big things in life we are one.”

AMANZIMTOTI Women’s Institute’s October meeting opened with the singing of the FWI song, Unity and the Mary Stewart Collect which was read by Muriel Hartwig.

This latter includes the phrase “Grant that we may realise that it is the little things that create differences, that in the big things in life we are one.”

President Yvonne Dixie welcomed all, especially visitors Rose, Gwen, Penny and Linda. Thoughts and prayers are with Norma Veldtman who is due to have a hip replacement and with Kay Wagner who is still not up and about. Doreen Goldshagg, cookery judge, returned and she was congratulated on her positive attitude towards healing.

The report on FWI Congress 2018, a special 80th celebration, was presented by Yvonne.

Members were reminded of the Alexandra Group lunch on Thursday, 25 October at 305 iPahla Road.

In November, AWI will welcome a special speaker, Tracy Adkins from the Giver of the Givers NGO. This promises to be interesting and informative and members were urged to invite friends to attend the meeting. They will also be holding a ‘bring and buy’. Members were urged to urgently provide hand-made items and any new bric-a-brac they may have for the sales table.

After tea and delicious snacks, Heather Liebenberg from Seed of Hope warmed AWI’s hearts with her talk on how this NGO came into being and all the work they undertake on Toti’s doorstep. AWI salutes Maureen and all her helpers.
