JUST IN: Police swoop on Scottburgh heroin dealers, seize drugs worth R750,000

A joint operation between Hawks members from Durban Organised Crime, Crime Intelligence and Durban Metro Police led to the duo’s arrest.

Police pounced on suspected heroin suppliers in Scottburgh yesterday (Wednesday, 17 October), seizing 12,000 heroine capsules with an estimated street value of R750,000. Two men, aged 42 and 46, are due to appear in Scottsburgh Magistrates’ Court today (Thursday, 18 October) to face charges of dealing in drugs.

A joint operation between Hawks members from Durban Organised Crime, Crime Intelligence and Durban Metro Police led to the duo’s arrest. Members followed-up information about a heroin supplier and members swooped on premises where a search uncovered 12,000 heroine capsules and drug-related paraphernalia with an estimated street value of R750,000. The duo were arrested.

Prior to this, the same team arrested a 38-year-old man for dealing in drugs in the Chatsworth area of Durban. He was found in possession of 3,200 heroine capsules with an estimated street value of R96,000.

He appeared in Chatsworth Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 16 October and was remanded in custody. His bail hearing will take place tomorrow, Friday, 19 October.
