CCPO nabs wanted housebreaker in Toti

The suspect was wanted for cases in Rockview Road, Lewis Drive, Hillside Road and Pick n Pay Winklespruit.

A well-known housebreaker was nabbed by the Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO) in the Toti CBD on Monday night, 15 October.

“After we put out a reward with a few informers and told them this suspect is on our wanted list, it didn’t take long for a call to come in,” said CCPO committee member, George Snodey.

The suspect was wanted for cases in Rockview Road, Lewis Drive, Hillside Road and Pick n Pay Winklespruit, to name a few, including possession of a stolen bicycle. “With regards to the bicycle, he failed to appear in court and a warrant of arrest was issued for him.

“Our CCPO supervisor, Michael Mkhize was in the CBD when he was approached by one of our informers, who told him the suspect was sitting in the taxi rank.” Mkhize picked up some guards who surrounded the area and the suspect was quickly apprehended.

“He has been causing havoc and Toti detectives were glad to hear we had him. Khumalo, one of the detectives, left home to come to the police station to ensure he was detained. When he got to the station we had the suspect cuffed and waiting for him,” said Snodey. This is another serious criminal off the street, thanks to the CCPO.

The suspect caught on CCTV footage at Pick n Pay Winklespruit.
