Khanya Hospice staff observe palliative care day

Khanya Hospice, with its head office in Umkomaas, offers free palliative nursing care.

Khanya Hospice staff are joined by Frida Bloemendal (green hat) and Mieke Breuers (front beige hat), both of The Netherlands, who are doing volunteer work at the hospice for six weeks, for World Hospice and Palliative Care Day on Saturday, 13 October.

World Hospice and Palliative Care Day was celebrated by Khanya Hospice staff on Saturday, 13 October.

Khanya Hospice, with its head office in Umkomaas, offers free palliative nursing care to people on the Upper South Coast, from the old Durban Airport to Hibberdene.

At the moment the nursing staff can only offer free home-based care but the Khanya Hospice board has decided to extend their current facility to cater for 36 in-patient beds. Currently plans are being drawn up for this and the facility will offer 24/7 nursing care to those who need this.
