eThekwini Municipality has a new number for consumers to SMS their electricity meter readings to.
The new number is 30909 (short code).
Ward 97 councillor, Andre Beetge said all readings sent to the old number have been coming in randomly from 8 November and some have been lost in the process.
There will be an official system change-over during November and the municipality will therefore be unable to receive and or capture readings sent to the old number (083-700-0819). It expects the new number to be up and running from 1 December.
