Isipingo women arrested with mandrax, heroin worth R60 000

Police recovered 789 capsules of mandrax and 150 heroin tablets with an estimated value of R60,000.

The persistence of the Provincial Drug Unit members to root out drug trade and drug abuse in the province yielded results when two women were arrested at Isipingo on Friday, 14 September. They were set to appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court yesterday (17 September).

Police pounced on the women, aged 40 and 57, in the Malukazi area, Isipingo and recovered 789 capsules of mandrax and 150 heroin tablets with an estimated value of R60,000, packaged and ready for distribution.

They were arrested and taken to Isipingo police station for detention. They were charged for dealing in drugs, and cash, suspected to be the proceeds of drug trade, was also confiscated.
