Umlazi SAPS spread love with food donation

The family was delighted to receive the food parcel, especially the three growing boys.

As Women’s Month came to an end, Umlazi SAPS donated a food parcel to the Madwi family at Zwelisha near Folweni.

The Madwi family is made up of three boys – Thobani Madwi (17), Sfundo Madwe (15) and Skhanyiso Madwi (11), who have lost both their parents and are now being taken care of by their uncle Buyithusi Fohla (26), who is also a taxi conductor and does not earn much.

Although, there is a lot of love in the family, they live in very humble conditions. The three boys are occasionally helped by a neighbour, Lindiwe Mthethwa, who was friends with the mother of the boys.

Umlazi SAPS showed the boys some ‘motherly love’, as part of their Women’s Month project by handing over a food parcel which consisted of vegetables, milk, cereal, tin food, juice, fruit, maize meal, polony, bread and butter. The family was delighted to receive the food parcel, especially the three growing boys.

“This act of kindness and generosity touches my heart,” said station commander of Umlazi SAPS, Brigadier DB Ntuli. “I am a very proud station commander when my members, through their own initiatives, go beyond their duties and boundaries. I am also grateful to community members who reach out to each other in need. This act of true kindness and generosity allows us to continue to believe that good will always overcome bad. Well done to all those involved.”
